Tour project – Working with the City to fulfill a grant to build content for the Lakeland Neighborhood tour. The ultimate goal is to move that content onto a virtual reality platform. For now, we expect the content will be available as a story map. Like the one at https://collegeparkmd.maps.arcgis.com/apps/MapTour/index.html?appid=a3d9d6a0c62d4e51802df8110d958a12.

UMD is offering spots in a summer research institute. Research topics will include initiatives from the 1856 project to include topics related to relationships with surrounding communities like Lakeland will be a part one of the possible topics. They are seeking undergraduate students (any college) and community members to take part. https://bsos.umd.edu/landingtopic/summer-research-initiative. For more info contact me or Mrs. Jones.

City is now seeking volunteers for the restorative justice commission. Once the commission is established it is likely they will be seeking volunteers to help carry out the restorative justice process.

  • We would be cohosting with a team from Johns Hopkins University. The commitment would include such things as co-emcee,
  • help decide the agenda,
  • suggest speakers who would provide project briefing, and
  •  find volunteers to facilitate the breakout discussion.
