Beach Day 2017

Remember the days when all the families in Lakeland and surrounding communities packed a big lunch and met at the beach? Here is your chance to relive those days and share a good time with family and friends. Come to Beach Day 2017 on Saturday, August 26 from noon to 3 PM at Sandy Point State Park, Osprey Shelter, 1100 E College Pkwy, Annapolis, MD 21409. The event is free. Just pay your park admission.

  • 1 PM –  Join a conversation – Learn about food in culture and share your knowledge about traditions of Lakeland. You can even bring stories, recipes and pictures to become part of a new project on food, the Lakeland Cooking Collection.

LCHP at Book Festival

The Fifth Annual College Park Community Library’s Book Festival will take place on Saturday, March 25, 2017, 2 to 4 PM at College Park Community Center, College Park, MD.  Come meet local authors including LCHP.  You can purchase Lakeland: African Americans in College Park and other books. This is a family festival with activities including crafts, children’s story time and a used book sale. This event helps to support the College Park Lions Club and College Park Recreation Board.
