At our Annual Meeting the goals for the year were set, to increase partnerships with other Historic African American Communities along Route One in Prince Georges County, to insure the stability of LCHP by improving administration, to add to our archives to include new contributors. Our long-term goals are the insuring of the ongoing safety of the LCHP Archives and the production of a new book or production. In view of these goals this year’s s calendar was set, and three committees were given tasks. This year LCHP will focus events on the shared history and heritage of the African American Communities along the County’s Route One Corridor.
Committees are Collections and Archive, Administration and Programs. Chaired by Mary Sies the Collections and Archives Committee will investigate permanent plans for continued access and care of our archives. They will also work to add images and interviews to the collection. Maxine Gross will work with others on the Administrative Committee to produce written administrative and program procedures for LCHP. Violetta Sharps Jones and Delphine Gross will co-chair the Program Committee. This group will be responsible for the Beach Day and Lakeland Heritage Weekend. Volunteers are needed for each of these committees. If you would like to help please email Maxine Gross at Maxine.a.gross@gmail.com.
