Phase One of the Lakeland Genealogical Portal is now available. We have longed to have a method of presenting information about the people of Lakeland over time and our relationships. This is a tall order and it will take time and specialized expertise. Lakeland Genealogy Portal is an ongoing project with the University of Maryland’s College of Information. The introductory version of the database displays the city’s 1965 voter’s registration role for Lakeland’s district, our US Census records for 1900, 1920 and 1950 as will as partial records for 1930 and 1940. This a work in progress and enhancements will be made over time.
