During the fall terms 2022 and 2023 University of Maryland Planning Studio classes worked with Lakelanders to create concepts for the future of Lakeland. Each year groups produced reports focused on three scenarios, status quo, reform and revolutionary. In each case they determined that it would take revolutionary action for Lakeland to achieve the goal of restorative justice to in deed to the extent possible repair the damage caused by urban renewal and other actions of the College Park and its partners. These exercises helped inform the city’s draft Lakeland Community Plan.

This plan is the product of years of study and collaboration by the City of College Park, University of Maryland Planning scholars and Lakeland community members. It sets out the community’s vision for the future centered in the needs and dreams of it’s people.
