Two great events are planned for the next few months a beach day on August 17 at Sandy Point Park and Heritage Weekend in Lakeland, September 13 to 15.

The Lakeland Community Heritage Project remembers…. Carr’s and Sparrow’s Beach…Family, Church and friends gather for recreation and celebrations at the Beach!

For many years African American Communities in Maryland enjoyed the shores of the Chesapeake at Carr’s and Sparrow’s Beach. The beaches have long been gone but our memories are still with us. From childhood to adulthood we played, splashed and danced at the Beach!

Please join The Lakeland Community Heritage Project as we celebrate those wonderful memories of our past for “A Day at the Beach”. Celebrate with us at Sandy Point Beach, Annapolis, Maryland Saturday August 17, 2013!

Share with us your favorite Beach photos, memorabilia and most of all your stories!
