Please mark your calendars, and join us at the College Park Community Center for Lakeland Heritage Weekend 2012, September 14-16. The activities will begin with an Xtreme Teens youth event which will be held on Friday evening, September 14 at 6 PM. The Lakeland Heritage Archive Open House will take place on Saturday September 15 from 9 AM to 5 PM. Lakeland community residents and former residents are invited to share their stories and images at this drop-in event. Volunteers will be on-hand to scan and document your submissions. Help us identify and date our historic photographs! Anyone is welcome to make an appointment to add your oral history to the archive by calling (301) 474-7080, or by email to Lakelandhistory@yahoo.com. Other activities on Saturday include a Genealogy Workshop, which will be held from 1 to 2:30 PM, and a Story Keeper’s Workshop, from 3 to 4 PM. Both workshops will present methods that everyone can learn and use to record and share their heritage.
