Sponsored by the Sandy Spring Museum this event will feature Violetta Sharps Jones of LCHP and other authors of the publisher, Arcadia Press. Each will discuss their communities, their books and the impact their publications have had upon their communities. A book signing will also be held.

Historic Lakeland at Smithsonian Anacostia Community Museum

Community Historian, Violetta Sharps Jones, vice-chair of the Lakeland Community Heritage Project will present the Lakeland story. She will discuss how Lakeland was established and flourished within a segregated society, developing its own institutions and traditions. A book signing will also be held.
