Lakeland’s Greatest Generation

This year’s Heritage will not only be a celebration of Lakeland’s 120th year but also an event to honor “Lakeland’s Greatest Generation”, the people who fought World War II overseas and on the home front. These people fought America’s enemies only to return home to fight for their own Civil Rights.  These were the ones who worked to insure that their children and Grandchildren were educated and ready for a time when greater opportunities would be theirs. They struggled to give equal rights to all Americans regardless of color. Meet some of these elders and help us honor them for the contributions they made.
