On Saturday, September 18 and Sunday, September 19, 2010 LCHP will sponsor the 4th annual Lakeland Heritage Weekend.  This is a milestone year as we celebrate Lakeland’s 120th anniversary. We will kick off the  weekend of celebration on Saturday with a parade through the community at noon. All Lakelanders and friends of Lakeland are invited to march in the parade or come and cheer.   State Delegate Joseline Pena-Melnyk will be our guest announcer for the event.  Following the parade a picnic will be held on the grounds of the College Park Community Center and spilling out to the playground of Paint Branch Elementary School and on to Lakeland Park. Everyone is welcome to bring a picnic lunch. LCHP will supply music and games.  Rita’s of College Park will even be on hand with free italian ices.  This promises to be an enjoyable day for the whole family.  To participate in the parade, get more information about the day or volunteer your help please call Pamela Randall Boardley at (301) 474-3855 or Jean Gray Matthews at (301) 773-0413.

Festivities will continue on Sunday, September 19 at 11 AM as we are all the invited guests of Lakeland’s oldest church, First Baptist Church of College Park for an outdoor worship service on their grounds at  5017 Lakeland Road. Light  refreshments provided by the church will end the day.

Everyone is welcome. Come out and enjoy it all.
