Thank you to all of you who came out this evening for a LCHP meeting. There was a great group on hand with lots of ideas. Several people stepped forward as new volunteers ready and willing to help with Heritage Weekend. There will be more on that subject later.

We were joined this evening by a number of our supporters including County Council Chairman Thomas Dernoga who presented us with a $1000 County Special Appropriation Grant from Distinct One. A number of other dignitaries including our own County Council representative from district three Eric Olson, Mayor Andrew Fellows, LCHP board member and City Council member Bob Catlin were on hand when a surprise announcement was made. Mr.Dernoga and Mr. Olson revealed that the Lakeland Community Heritage Project would be the recipient of an additional grant of —-$15,0000 in recognition of our contribution to the County’s cultural heritage. State Delegate Joseline Pena-Melnyk was present to offer her well wishes to LCHP after the presentation.
While the $1000 will be used in support of Heritage Weekend the large grant will be set aside as an investment in the organization’s future. It is the hard work of the members and friends of LCHP that have allowed this organization to make such great progress in only a few short years. It is your continued support which will allow us to climb higher still.
